Only the bravehearted will challenge to win at Hillend, the UK's longest dryslope.  But the long trip north to Edinburgh was worthwhile as Cameron returned home with another national title.   In fantastic racing conditions in Edinburgh, Cameron dominated the U18 age group with two impressive runs down what is arguably the UK's toughest dryslope challenge.

It was a clean sweep for Cameron at the Snowsport England BASS races in Landgraaf, NL.  In her first race in the juniors category, consistently solid racing was rewarded by 1st place in both slalom races as well as 1st place overall in the juniors plus seniors group.  In the pro slalom event, Cameron posted the fastest female time of the day and returned home with an impressive medals haul.

In the culmination of the winter season, Cameron was unable to find consistent form to match her earlier performances.  A slip in the super-G and a disappointing giant slalom was compensated by a reasonable slalom performance where a strong 2nd run positioned her in 5th place an the end of the day.

Anglo Scottish Success for Cameron (Jan 2014)

Cameron had a great start to the winter season in Les Houches on the 5th January. A window in the weather allowed the Anglo Scottish slalom race to start, but very soft snow hampered consistent performance. She set the pace with an unbeatable first run and sat at the top of the leader's board going into run two .  Hampered by the treacherously rutted course, Cameron dropped a couple of places on the 2nd run and finished as 3rd British athlete.

British Schools’ Champion’s Title for Cameron (Nov 2013)

47 Qualifying teams from the English, Scottish and Welsh finals met in Gloucester for the climax of the schools’ ski-racing calendar – the British Schools’ Open Championships. PGS girls earned a place at the finals following qualifying races at Southampton in September and the English finals in Norwich in October.

Blazing first runs from PGS girls positioned them in 1stplace at the half way point, marginally ahead of rivals Surbiton High School.  Consistent skiing by the Surbiton girls in the second run, however, eroded the PGS lead and despite their efforts, PGS girls were pushed into a very respectable 2nd place.

In the individual race, Cameron unleashed her full potential with two blistering runs to end the day as fastest girl in the race and worthy winner of the British Schools’ Champion’s title.

Impressive racing from Cameron helped PGS girls achieve a championship performance at the English schools finals in Norwich.   The under 16 girl’s team, who progressed to the English national school’s final from the regional qualifier at Southampton, triumphed over England’s best in the team’s most impressive performance to date.   The girls snatched a win from Surbiton High School - holders of the champion’s title for the last seven years!

Lightning skiing from the girls in the open age group (under 19) competition on Sunday positioned them in third place and secured them a place in the British finals to be held at Gloucester Ski Centre on the 17th of November.

My Winter Season

I got off to a good start in the New Year races in Les Houches  -  a fifth place in the Anglo Scottish. But my season was hampered by an achilles strain half way through which took me out of training for 6 weeks.  I found reasonable form at the Easter races, but feel I could have performed better.  My best performance was in the Courchevel Ecosse Slalom where my 2nd run was 2nd fastest in the race.

Back on plastic for the schools races and having great fun!  A great day for me and the girls - 3rd place for PGS Girls in the U19 British finals in Pontypool, with an average team age of only 11. Also, 5th place overall female U19 for me was a very satisfying result!
